Cleanse101 - Managing expectations during a herbal cleanse

However for this to happen, YOU! have to be willing to do the work.

The concept of 'heal thy self' is one that deeply resonates. It encompasses mindfulness, self-care, wholistic health and spiritual growth. It encourages individual awareness and responsibility. After all, we are healers in our own right, and it is time to take an active role in our own healing, - cultivate resilience, acknowledge individual power and embrace the life with a deeper overstanding.
Healing with herbs
The utilisation of living organisms (such as plants) for their medicinal and detoxification properties have been used thoughout many generations across different cultures. It is known within these cultures that such herbs help to support and and positively influence the body’s natural programming.
Herbs can be prepared and consumed in various ways to initiate the process of herbal cleansing (botanical detoxification).
Extraction methods include:
• maceration, decoction and infusions.
Preparation Methods include:
• Tinctures
• Infused oils
• Ointments
• Capsules
• Teas
Elimination Channels 101
The human body is exposed to a number of toxins, pollutants, and other harmful substances on a daily basis. In order to maintain optimal health and well-being, the removal of such substances are vital.
But fear not, as the human body has is a phenomenal machine, equipped with an innate programming, - The Eliminatory Channels, specially designed to carry out such functions.
There are 5 main elimination channels, which must be opened for the body to function effectively. And luckily for us Mother Nature provides an array of herbs, which can be utilised to assist in opening of these channels, whilst working in unison to support the entire body. Hence the development of M.H.As herbal cleansing formulas.
The main channels for the excretion / elimination of toxins within the body are the colon, liver, gallbladder, kidneys and skin. The blood and lymphatic system are also elimination channels (sometimes referred to as detoxification channels).
Nevertheless all channels are playing a vital role in the circulation of toxins around the body, so they can be excreted through perspiration(sweat), urine and fecal waste (poop).
When these organs/systems are functioning proficiently they create space for optimum cleansing with the minimum of detox reactions or side effects.

How you decide to heal your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body is ultimately your choice to make. Thatbeing said some individuals may choose to;

• receive bodywork or other methods of alternative therapy.
If you are choosing to embark on a herbal cleanse, whether it be to aid or to address specific areas in the body or the entire bodily system, there a few factors one should take into consideration before starting the journey.
These include factors such as:
• Your diet
• Mental state
• Lifestyle / personal circumstance
• The duration of the cleanse
• The pros and cons of cleansing
1) Your Diet
Before initiating your cleanse it’s important to first ensure that you are putting the right things into your body. There is really no point going through any kind of cleanse, if you’re are not able to define and set boundaries when it comes to eating and drinking. As dietary habits are something that can either boost or reduce your chances of a successful cleanse.
Remember improving your diet isn't just for the short term (during a cleanse), and it doesn’t have to mean drastic changes for the long term either. Simple solutions like; reducing the amount refined, gmo, processed junk foods/bevarages (definetly not permitted during cleansing) and replacing them with nutrient dense foods/beverages.
That said, its not just food/drink that impact our health. Most are unaware or don't take into consideration that alot of the "harmful toxins" that threaten the functioning of vital organs/systems, are introduced via chemicals found in personal care/hygiene products, household cleaning agents, toothpaste, alcohol, smoking products etc.
So this too should be taking into consideration if you wish to stay in optimum health once your cleansing has finished.
Last but definitely not least, stay hydrated!! Ensure you are taken in enough vital fluids, be it h20 (water), h302 (fruit/veg water) and herbal teas. This will help to replenish all the organs and cells so that they function more efficiently.

2) Mental State
Mind over matter!! It really boils down to this in the end. Making a conscious decision to get the most out of your cleanse, is a great another vital starting point. Often its our mind/thoughts that hinders or catapults us into success, and this couldn't be more true when it comes to cleansing. Having the correct mindset will keep you strong in moments of weakness. It is also a key tool for motivation and self programming; for example as you cleanse, positive self talk and affirmations such as "I am enjoying cleansing and restoring my body back to health" or "My body is healed" works to initiate a new subconscious programming. The key is to believe and feel what you speak.
Try listening to some positive self talk affirmations, music or frequencies whilst on your cleansing journey.
3) Lifestyle
The smallest of changes can have the biggest effects. More often it is the routines and habits that have been unconsciously adopted for "survival" are the very things that are holding you back.
Being mindful is key! When you take on a more mindful approach, the everday tasks are less of a strain. Subtle changes, such as adequate hydration, balanced nutrition, and regular exercise, can help to support and strengthen your body’s natural processes. Making ut less of a chore to live!
Additionally, being mindful of product choices and reducing chemical exposure can help maintain overall wellness. Remember, prevention is better than a cure, and making intentional choices is the best method of prevention.
4) Cleanse Duration
The duration of a cleanse is dependent on the; type of cleanse, factors surrounding the cleanse and the individuals current state of health.
Typically a herbal cleanse should last a minimum of 7 days, as some herbs should not be used consecutively for more than 7days.
Please seek the advisory of a herbalist or qualified health practitioner, before starting any cleanse.
5)Pros & Cons
There are many pros to cleansing how ever there are some cons.
Feeling “unwell” during a cleanse
As your body starts to progressively clean and remove years of accumulated toxins, acids, and mucus – you may experience symptoms similar to those which led to you seeking to improve your well being and undertake a cleanse in the first place.
If this is your first intra cellular/organ (whole body) cleanse, you may start to feel unwell for the first few days - this is not uncommon, this is what is known as the precursor of a "healing crisis”.
Healing crisis 101
What is a healing crisis?? a healing crisis is a temporary worsening of symptoms that occurs as the body undergoes the healing process. It is a natural phenomenon that can arise from various alternative medicine treatments, such as homeopathy, massage therapy, acupuncture, or reflexology.
According to an article on healthline.com, “a healing crisis is a temporary worsening of symptoms after beginning a complementary or alternative medicine (CAM) treatment. You may also see it called a homeopathic aggravation, a detox reaction, or a cleansing reaction”.
As the body begins to rid itself of “toxins, acids and mucus residues” that have built up and accumulated in your body over the years, you may experience “skin erruptions, headaches, nausea uneasiness, flu-like symptoms and fatigue, sleepiness, constipation, diarrhea, head or chest cold, ear infections, boils, or any other way the body uses to loosen and eliminate toxins”.
It is of great importance that persons refrain from trying to suppress these temporary symptoms with medications or else the healing process may become interrupted.
Additionally, some individuals may experience an onset of symptoms that are similar or “identical to the dis-ease” that the cleanse is helping to address. “Sometimes pain and symptoms during the healing crisis are more intense than that of the actual manifestation of the di-sease state. However just know that this is a temporary yet necessary part of the cleansing and healing process.
Afterall the main goal of the healing crisis, is to ramp up the body’s entire eliminatory programming and clear the stage for regeneration, revitalization and re-fortification.
How long will it last?
An initial healing crisis typically lasts around three days, but may last longer in individuals in complex or multiple dis-ease states.
FYI>> it is possible for some individuals to go through more than one healing crisis before imbalances in the body are fully corrected and optimum health is restored.
Individuals in a chronic dis-ease or imbalanced state may have to go through multiple cycles of healing crisis, with each one improving the highlighted condition.
